There’s another reason to raise a glass of Sussex! As Sussex sparkling wine continues to give top Champagne cuvées a run for their money, it has been granted Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status. This recognises the area’s soil, climate and local wine-making expertise and represents a guarantee to consumers that the product they’re buying is the real thing and prevents imitations.
This recognition underscores the high-quality viticulture and wine-making excellence that English and Welsh wines have achieved and makes Sussex a serious contender on the wine scene.
